Freedom Disappears

My middle-aged friends are freakin’ out man. We are the establishment, not the elite, and we’re appalled. It’s gone and we never saw it leaving.

When I first flew in to Changi Airport, 28 years ago, I was shocked to see soldiers with machine guns. I was not accustomed to the sight. Here at home, in the land of the free, soldiers with machine guns didn’t mill about smartly. Although, the National Guard did, permanently, subdue protesting citizens at Kent State in 1970.  Perhaps, Liberty began surreptitiously packing her bags then.
