We didn’t work yesterday. The sunrise was promising.
We were pleased to discover the return of the luna moth when we went outside. Until we moved to Hippy Hill, I’d never seen one. I read Barbara Kingsolver’s Prodigal Summer the first year we lived here. The luna moth appeared in the novel at about the same time it appeared on HH; a happy coincidence.
My husband grilled, while I potted annuals. We looked toward the trees and saw a visitor devouring day old bread bought for the crows. He wasn’t at all disturbed by our presence or the opening and closing of the screen door.
My husband was awed by the sight of the stillness of the hummingbird outside the window last evening. He’d never seen one at rest before.
cool…..thats the way to spend a sunday…………
It was so nice.
hmm…we spent the day recovering from the very late and boozy night before…..something that we dont do very often anymore……..thank god……….
I remember when I could work all day, go out all night, shower and go back to work all day, go out all night again…through entire summers. It would KILL me to do that now!
LOVELY! I am so happy for the two of you: what a day of beauty! You know, I’ve seen a lot of hummingbirds, but like your husband, I have never seen one at rest.
The good days are what sustain us through the work days, back at it this morning!
Looks like you live in a very peaceful place. Most of the wildlife we have here are known as Neighbors. 🙂
You are so funny! I don’t mind peaceful for short stretches. I miss the advantages of a more urban environment.
Gorgeous. What is the tree with the pink blossoms? Oh, the raccoon. He looks so sweet and friendly there in your yard. Different from when I see one. It’s usually when I walk outside in the evening for something and I see one terrorizing my trash. He just stares at me with an “I dare you” look. I usually run away, screaming. But he looks good in your yard.
He does look like just the sweetest, little critter but he is part of a gang of raccoon terrorists that rip the bird feeders down every night.
Dude, you have wildlife right outside. You live in a zoo. Do you have crack squirrels?
Dr. Doolittle, doing as little as possible. I think the squirrels are huffers.
Squirrels on acid would be fun to watch.
oooohhh, there is a good name for the band… squirrels on acid.
Quite catchy.
