Last night, I saw this Ragu commercial when I was watching an, otherwise, innocuous program. I did a double take when I heard the lyrics to the ditty that accompanies the spot; “Parents in bed, it’s just 8 o’clock, that’s why they taught you, you should always knock…” I could NOT believe it! I laughed at first, thinking it was a preview to a late night sitcom but NO it was a for real commercial for spaghetti sauce, of all things. I’m wondering who their target market is.

Maybe the Viagra marketing director was laid off and got hired by Ragu.

Anything goes, I guess. I’m with you on the horrified part!

  2. Some of the commercials on the tube make me think of SNL. The times they keep on a’ changin’.

Okay . . . well . . . I’m no prude, but that commercial is just creepy. What about that sells spaghetti sauce? What leads to what? Spaghetti to sex? Sex to spaghetti? Does being mortified lead to the need to eat spaghetti? What? I’m lost.

I saw this the other day! OMG — I’m still laughing! I’d buy Ragu just because they had the guts to make such a commercial!

  5. Oooooohhhh…. saucy sauce!

  6. I wonder what their sausage adds sound like?

I just watched this on Youtube. So, the Ragu was offered to the poor child after as comfort for what he had endured. Ragu has a whole series of these commercials but this is the raciest. It’s funny – they all are. They show the absurdity that sometimes comes with raising children and the things parents have to do to ensure compliance.
