First & Last

I’ve been ignoring the AP subpeonas. I don’t know if I can summon the energy to care. It’s just another Trojan horse, built to convince us we’re losing something that’s already gone. A few people have bought and paid for speech that used to be free and the cost has been passed along to us, as costs are wont to do.

No more free speech. Bummer. Sam Zell, Rupert Murdoch, Clear Channel, it’s been gone a while and few noticed it sneaking off. Free speech has gone but the good news is marijuana will be legalized. More dog wagging. Legalize marijuana, power to the government.

Freedom isn’t free; speech ain’t either. Weed won’t be free. Lunch has never been free. The state of affairs just makes me want to get drunk and go to Walmart. Freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose. Spark it up, Bobby McGee.

Nothin’ ain’t nothin’ if it ain’t free. Janis could rip holes in my heart.

Actually, what’s most irritating about it is that Republicans had no problem with privacy and the gov’mint gettin’ all up in your business when they made the anti-privacy laws, but, now that it’s somehow Obama’s fault, they’re shouting all over about government intrusion…

Each side is as guilty as the other in the erosion of our rights. Republicans took advantage after 9/11 in implementing the Patriot Act but the Dems are no less guilty for allowing the nefarious shit to continue. I’m not sure how much any of it matters, John. Nobody cares about the ordinary people. I wish we could have more joy and less worry.

I feel you. Also been feeling particularly defeated about the whole thing lately. So… *raises wine glass*

  4. Awwww…. cheer up…. light up… lift up… don’t give up…

  5. I didn’t realize you could actually go to Walmart sober.

  6. epiwah says:

Or boycott Walmart and stay sober.
    Beat them.
