Stop the madness! Rachel Canning is suing her parents to pay her education costs even though she has attained age 18 and after she opted to move out of their house rather than live by their rules under their roof. Presumably, Rachel is not making the mortgage payments on the house her parents live in.
Woo, woo, woo Rachel. Poor abused, spoiled rotten, completely entitled you. Get a job and pull your own freight. You will be best served if your public attempt at emotional and financial extortion fails and you’re left on your own to provide for yourself. Shame on you for trying to humiliate your family.
I couldn’t agree more. Shame on her and what lawyer would take that case?
What happened to kids’ desire for financial independence? I thought the whole purpose of moving out was to be free of parental tyranny. The best friend’s father is instigating this mess by funding the litigation- he should mind his own business and concentrate his efforts on providing fodder for his own offspring’s therapy.
This will come back to bite her in the ass…
She has wasted her 15 minutes of fame.
It could always be worse
Hopefully, when she’s older, she’ll regret her decision like my oldest daughter did when she pulled a similar stunt on me when she was 16. She refused to come home and the State said I couldn’t make her but yet the State wanted me to pay for her “caregiver’s” receipt of welfare on my daugher’s behalf. Thankfully, I had a friend who was a lawyer who found that she had emancipated herself when she left home based on a three-prong test. My daughter tells me now it was a miserable time in her life. My youngest daughter left home at 17, too, because she didn’t want to live under my rules. She also said it was a miserable time in her life because she moved in with her boyfriend and his parents (a nice family) but he had already lost interest in her by then and was starting to date other girls. So, hopefully Rachel will regret leaving home and the life she had there because she will find it’s rarely greener on the other side of the fence.
In most cases, and I think in this case, there are few people who will love a person more than parents do.
It’s actually very hard to love your children at times. It’s the universe’s way of telling everyone it’s time to split up.
Just one more example of why knowledgeable parents frequently eat their young.
Hahahaha! Yes, exactly!
